Commercial EPCs
What is a commercial EPC?
A Commercial EPC is necessary for any facility that is not regarded as a residence, such as retail spaces, lodging facilities, and industrial buildings.
An EPC for the building must be ordered before it is put on the market by the seller or landlord, and it must be finished before the transaction can be completed.
Regulatory Compliance
Compliance with energy efficiency standards helps avoid legal issues and contributes to sustainability goals.
Energy Benchmark
Provides a roadmap for implementing improvements to reduce energy consumption and operational costs.
Marketing Advantage
A high-rated commercial EPC can be a valuable asset when marketing or selling a commercial property.
SBEM Calculations
Simplified Building Energy Model is known by the abbreviation SBEM is the national methodology for calculating the energy efficiency of new-build commercial properties.
Similar to SAP calculations which are carried out on domestic properties, SBEM calculations are also carried out on New-build properties but is specific to calculating for Non-Domestic properties.
Based on a building’s geometry, architecture, and use, as well as any HVAC and lighting equipment, SBEM determines the building’s monthly energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. For all newly constructed, renovated, and expanded commercial properties, SBEM estimates must be generated in order to demonstrate conformity with Regulations Part L. Building regulations Part L specifies how energy efficient new and existing dwellings should be and addresses fuel and power conservation in the construction of new homes in England.
After the building is completed and all tasks have been accomplished in accordance with the SBEM criteria, SBEM calculations are used to create an energy performance certificate (EPC).
